---Gould---

When I finished to read whole text, I thought this texts were about Philosophy of Science. It is one of the topics that I am most interested in. Gould wrote about how science and scientists should be.

Summary
First, Gould points out that scientists are unconsciously influenced by the society around them. In other word, scientists proceed their researching strongly influenced social contexts around them.
Second, he points out that scientists's researches influence the society around them. In his opinion, their researches improve the society.
Third, he insists that scientists and the society around them should make good communication because each role is interactive.

Reaction
I agree with first and second point that he looks at. Actually, scientists and the society around them play interactive role. one side lets development of another side.
However, they cannot be conscious about that. Scientists are completely one part of the society around them. So, no element enables them to notice such interactions. Perhaps, the thought that "scientists are influenced by the society" even might be an idea created by social contexts around us. It seems to be a philosophical problem. So, what scientists can do is only be critical toward their researches.
