Reaction to Fisher

This essay seems to focus on the topics related to psychology or philosophy of science. Actually, I've read a lot of books about philosophy of science in this summer, so this essay interested me so much!

Every part of this essay is connected to human cognition and each of it is explained by author specifically. Especially, I'm interested in the part of "Perception is Experiential" because this key word "Experiential" seems to be the most important word in this essay and this type of discussion is always being done in the books about philosophy I've ever read. Although there are 5 features of perception in this essay, I think this "experiential" is the most fundamental one because without it, other 4 features cannot be explained.
In addition, this feature can be connected to Barna or Birk&Birk's essay.

My Reaction to Barna

now I've finished to read Barna...
so I'm going to write my reaction to the text.

First, although the body is composed of six stumbling blocks, these blocks seem to be connected each other deeply. So, I noticed that intercultural problems are not simple problem, and they are so complex. It means that even if we understand just one of the stumbling blocks, we cannot solve whole problems.
What we have to do is, first understand each block deeply. Next, we must understand the connection of each block. Such comprehensive understanding helps us solve intercultural problems more smoothly.

and, this is just an aside, when I was reading the part of Preconceptions and Stereotypes, I thought that "Stereotypes" are also cultures of particular communities, because they are formed gradually in particular groups' historical contexts.

The Great Gatsby

I read ‘‘The Great Gatsby’’ and the author is Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald. I chose this book because I’ve heard the word ‘‘Gatsby’’ before and I have good and bright impression on the word ‘‘Gatsby.’’ I expected the story was so cheerful. However, contrast to my expectation, the story was miserable and thoughtful.
This story can be said that very sad love story. A man, Gatsby tries to be reconciled with a woman, Daisy who once loved him but is a wife of other man. Although his neighbor, Nick helps him to do that, his hope never comes true and he dies. The story is described from perspective of Nick, but I think main character is Gatsby because the changes of his feeling are described most skillfully. At the beginning part of the story, Gatsby’s feeling is covered. However, as the story proceeds his feeling is exposed gradually. Especially, at the middle of the story, his speech and behavior are so lively. At the end of the story, he starts to be disappointed the situation.
The main theme of this story might be that difficulty of living purely and properly. For example, Gatsby becomes very rich but he has done so many illegal things. Daisy cannot be sure about whether she loves Gatsby and pure love of Gatsby and Daisy brakes. This theme seems to be related with the word ‘‘lost generation.’’ That word means that due to miserable damages of WW1, a lot of young people lost their hopes and became skeptical about the society.
I like the scene that Gatsby takes Daisy to Nick’s house and talks with her. He is so pleasant at the scene and seems to be pure. I think this scene is very rare in the point of that there are few scenes in this story that Gatsby becomes pure. However I don’t like the scene that Gatsby dies because his dead means his feeling or emotion never come back anymore.
Throughout this story, I came to think that we should live accepting existence of many difficulties and have power to defeat them. Moreover, to live in such way, we should recognize our own feelings by ourselves. By recognizing them, we can recognize our difficulties clearly. No two people have the same feeling at the same time, so ultimately we must deal with our difficulties individually though we can help each other on the way before defeating difficulties.

My Summer and Autumn

hi, everyone!
Today, I'm going to write about my summer vacation and my eagerness in Autumn.
on 6/25, our spring term was over. Although that was sooooo tough term, we could overcome, and summer vacation started!
At first, I was going to do part time job, but I failed the job interview maybe because so many adults took the interview...
Due to that, the first half of my summer vacation was so boring and I was so called NEET.

However, from 8/19 to 9/2, I went to Canada with my high school friends ! My relatives live there, so we stayed their house for 2 weeks. we did a lot of things(e.g. rafting, hiking, BBQ, paint ball, etc...)
it was so nice experience for me because in Canada not only i could enjoy a lot of experiences, but also i could acquire many different thoughts from what i have :)

I want to make use of such experiences in my Autumn term. Fortunately, the topics of essay assignment in Autumn term seem to be chosen flexibly. It means we can include our experiences in summer vacation into our essays. It must make it more fun to write our essays!!!
